Ah, how I have missed my Orcy kin.

I decided to paint an older drawing of mine. To my great surprise and joy, I believe it turned out quite well. Let me know what you think! Critiques are much appreciated, as I am always seeking to improve my art, and the digital realm is still very, very new to me.

Orcish Horde Fanart. Warcraft copyright Blizzard.

Thanks!

Man, this rocks - even the intense lighting looks cool as it comes off stylised as opposed to wrong. Very pretty contrast between the huge flames (the blurred sparks add to the impression he's like -right next to- some stonking great inferno) and the moon on the snow. :)

Ah yes, orcs in snowy landscapes are one of my favourite things.

It looks as though there are two light sources. One being the moon and another appears to be some sort of fire. Keep in mind that light produced by fire actually doesn't cover that much distance, its weak and has a quick fall off. The amount of light you are trying to cover here would be more appropriate for something with a stronger intensity. Also keep in mind how light reflects against different materials. Try not to use one type of yellow or orange to determine the entire light source and think about how colours react with different coloured lights shining on them. You did this a little bit with the skull banner, which is a step in the right direction.

Also take into consideration that some of the lighting here doesn't make sense as there are some things being hit by the firelight while other objects and things on the same plane completely miss it when they should be getting the same amount of light. I'm not sure that you did this with the intention of getting people to look at certain areas of the drawing as it seems a bit randomized.

Figuring out this stuff can be hard. It's tricky but I'm glad you're tackling it anyway and I hope you keep at that.

It's wonderful. Very new, you say? It looks nothing like that.

I love every part of it, it's very dynamic and the lighting is wonderful, so many details... all those things.

(Although I don't enjoy seeing a night elf head there XD)

You are really talented.

Thank you so much! Indeed, I am very new, but I am glad I pulled it off. The Night elf head, that is ;)
